Ragging is any disorderly conduct, whether by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any student, indulging in rowdy or indisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of a fresher or a junior student.
As per the judgements and guidelines pronounced by the Honourable Supreme Court and the directions of the University Grants Commission (UGC), SCD Govt College has an Anti-Ragging Cell to prevent any form of ragging in the college. The cell functions in the college under the supervision of a committee headed by Prof Harpreet Kaur Bajwa (89688-12469).
SCD Govt College Ludhiana follows zero tolerance policy towards ragging. Any action that can threaten the physical or mental health of an individual, any form of teasing or behaving in a rude and inappropriate manner, any act that prevents or disrupts the regular academic activity or disturbs the peaceful learning atmosphere of the college will invite strict disciplinary action and punishment. Such a student is liable to be suspended from the college and his admission cancelled.
