The Commerce Department started in 1963 for undergraduate classes. The post graduate classes were introduced in 1985 and MCom (Business Innovations) under UGC sponsored project was started in 2011. Its vision is to build capacity and frontiers of knowledge and to produce high calibre of graduate and post graduate students, those who can apply their knowledge to solve real life trade issues, business issues and make effective policies for all the sections of society.
The department has a sanctioned strength of 16 faculty members. All are well qualified and five are pursuing research. The department consists of 5 smart class rooms, computer and printer. The main objective of the department is to provide excellent teaching with dedication and commitment and to motivate the students, to develop the spirit of enterprise and innovation and to promote research and development. Many of our students have been employed in private companies, public companies and MNCs, and qualified UGC- Net, JRF, Probationary Officer exams and other well-known govt exams. Our students are pursuing Charted Accountancy from Institute of Charted Accountants of India and Doctorate in well- known Universities on fellowship and scholarship due to their high intellectual competence.
The mission of our department is to inculcate employable skills in students, making them competent enough to get their academic ground established in long run with combined efforts faculty of the college. The department organises extension lectures and PPT presentations to develop the overall personality of students. The teachers focus on inculcating a mindset of self-entrepreneurship, startups and developing ideas according to the changing needs of global business environment.
Admission Criteria: Admission in M.COM is based on merit only through centralised portal of government and relaxation is provided to SC/ST/BC students .Minimum 50% marks are required to be eligible.
