The English department was founded in the year of inception of the college,1920. Masters in English was introduced in 1952. The vision of the department is to develop in all a passion for learning and literature; to inculcate intensive and critical faculty of thought; to transpire each soul into a complete human being.The department has a sanctioned strength of 13 faculty members. There is a well furnished departmental library comprising over 400 reference books, grammars and text books for the perusal of students. There is availability of smart classroom, laptop, computer along with printer for the facilitation of faculty and students. Over the years, several students have secured placement in teaching, journalism and other sectors including success in various competitive exams. The mission of the department is to strive for academic excellence in communications, expression and knowledge of literature to promote self-reliance, capability and confidence; to quicken perception, widen mental horizons and mellow the rawness of thought.
