The history department was introduced in this college in 1920, the year of foundation of the college. The Department’s mission is twofold: to introduce students to the breadth and depth of the human experience by a comparative study of past and contemporary societies and cultures, and to develop their ability to conduct research, analyse and assess evidence, and articulate sound conclusions both orally and in writing; to train students to understand the social, cultural, political and economic forces in their historical context which have changed our world.
The vision of the department is to developing a capacity for independent thought, critical analysis, self-awareness and social awareness by the nurturing of a keen sense of individual and social responsibility and the building of respect for cultural diversity and the rule of law.
* History Honours is offered to those students who have secured a minimum of 50% in history in 1st & 2nd sem.** Conditions:1.Student who has lived outside Punjab for the last 10 years.2. A student who is not a resident of Punjab and has passed the 10th examination from outside Punjab.3.Children of Security Department and Central Government Servants.4.Foreign students.
